Zuma Courier: Cross-Border Logistics Made Simple

The Last-Mile Problem

East Africa's logistics market is a study in paradoxes. Nairobi has hundreds of courier companies, yet sending a 5kg parcel reliably within the city costs KES 800–2,000 and involves calling three different phone numbers. Cross-border shipping from Kenya to Uganda can cost $50 and take a week, for a parcel the size of a laptop.

The problem isn't physical infrastructure — roads exist, trucks run, drivers are available. The problem is coordination, tracking, and trust. Zuma Courier solves all three.

How Zuma Courier Works

Book a shipment in the app in three steps: enter pickup address, enter delivery address, select service type (same-day, express/next-day, or standard/2–5 days). The system calculates the price instantly based on distance, weight, and service level. You get a confirmed tracking number immediately.

A Zuma-networked courier is dispatched to your pickup address. You get real-time GPS tracking from pickup to delivery. The recipient receives a delivery notification with a 2-hour delivery window. Both sender and recipient can communicate with the courier through in-app messaging.

Cross-Border Shipping

Zuma handles Nairobi–Kampala, Nairobi–Dar es Salaam, and Kampala–Dar es Salaam corridor shipments. We work with licensed customs clearing agents at each border to handle documentation. The shipper uploads a commercial invoice and packing list in-app. Zuma handles the rest.

Typical Nairobi–Kampala express transit time: 2–3 business days. Standard: 4–6 business days. Pricing starts at KES 1,500 for parcels under 2kg.
